Biden somehow won a single primary and then everyone else dropped out of the race (including Sanders) and declared Biden the winner.

That was the North Carolina primary. Just prior to that, Clayburn and Obama agreed between them that Biden would be the presidential candidate. And so it transpired. Biden won the NC primary and the primary candidates withdrew one after the other in short order.
