That was a good job for a young kid. It taught discipline and responsibility, something all kids need. Today's kids are spoiled and don't want to work at that age. Plus they're consumed with all kinds of extra-curricular activities that are way more important than developing a good work ethic.

I remember being at my brother's house at a family party. My young niece, who was 16 at the time, was being encouraged to get a job by him. She was against the idea, of course, because she had so many sports practices and it would have meant she would have to give up some of them. Oh, boo hoo.

I think back to myself at her age and I wanted to work and make a life for myself, away from my parents. No one had to push me into it.
