Should You Warn Someone Of Dangerous Behavior? (Public Board)

When I was walking home from work to the subway in Manhattan, I saw an obviously Jewish family doing tourist-type stuff. I wanted to say to them "Are you crazy? It's not safe here!", but I didn't say anything.

In Manhattan, someone could assault them for being Jewish. The DA Bragg would never prosecute them. All the criminals know this and it's open season for crime, especially crime against Jews.

Should I have said something?

I'm not sure. Your conscience and morals are in the right place but here's the thing... They should have checked their own government's guidance on tourism and (just like the US has the State Dept. website that describes travel risks) and determined what the reality of NYC is. I think you might have been bitterly rebuffed if you tried.

Yeah, that's what I figured. They (or someone else) might react with hostility. Let them find out the hard way, and there's still a decent chance they get lucky and make it out safely.

I think you did the right thing by not saying anything. Jewish people everywhere know they're always a target anywhere. I think it was better not to say anything and just let them be. I'd want to warn them too, but they know the risk, especially if they're obviously Jewish.
