You idea is noble and idealistic in a way.
But believe me: working on anything as demanding as a software application, without a decent income stream arising from it, is living death.
It's utterly demoralizing and kills your soul (or at least it did for me) to be aware that nobody or very few are interacting with, using, reading, or engaging with your thing.
I've been much happier working on my own projects around the house or hobbies rather than pushing on a product or other idea that needs an audience that I can't build.
However... if your game takes off and gets sales, then you've got a self sustaining spark.
